Juliette
Famed as a lively railroad community in the early 1900s, this absolutely charming town is not just sixty minutes south of Atlanta and twenty minutes north of Macon, it’s where one of Kathy Bates’ most famous movies, Fried Green Tomatoes, was filmed.
Named for a railroad engineer’s daughter, Juliette is deliciously picturesque. You’ll relish the lovingly tended shops and sumptuous restaurants then taking a spin through lush Juliette Park tucked along the banks of the Ocmulgee River. Nearby Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge was first forged in 1939 and boasts seven miles of trails and over fifty miles of paved roads for hiking. High Falls State Park and Dames Ferry State Park are only a short hop away.
Annual traditions include the Juliette post office stamping a dual postmark to include the town of Romeo, Michigan during the month of February; the Green Tomato Festival on the last weekend of October; and the not-to-be-missed charming arts and crafts festival that revels in Juliette’s Hollywood fame.
